Project Overview

Chaotic Ramen is a conceptual restaurant branding project created to capture the energy, flavor, and visual intensity of modern ramen culture.

The goal was to build a brand that feels expressive, immersive, and instantly recognizable. I wanted the identity to feel like more than just a logo on a menu, it needed to feel like a full experience customers could step into.

By combining hand-drawn illustration, bold typography, and streetwear-inspired visuals, I created a brand system that could live across menus, packaging, signage, apparel, and interior graphics.

Modern Restaurant Problems

Solution

I developed a bold visual identity centered around illustrated character work, high-contrast layouts, and a gritty, modern aesthetic.

The design language pulls from Japanese tattoo influence, manga-inspired linework, streetwear graphics, and strong poster-style composition. These elements helped shape a brand that feels expressive and full of attitude while still being cohesive across every application.

The result is a restaurant concept that feels immersive, distinct, and built to leave an impression both online and in person.

Brand System Highlights

1. Illustrated Brand Assets

Custom character illustrations and tattoo-inspired linework give the brand a recognizable visual identity with strong personality and edge.

2. Bold Menu Hierarchy

High-contrast typography and color blocking help organize menu content clearly while keeping the overall layout visually striking.

3. Environmental Brand Application

The identity extends beyond print into posters, signage, and in-store visuals to create a more immersive restaurant experience.

4. Packaging Consistency

Takeout packaging and branded collateral were designed to feel cohesive with the larger visual system and reinforce the brand outside the space.

Branded Poster Applications

Poster concepts were created to show how the visual identity could live in-store through promotional and environmental graphics. Each piece carries the same gritty, high-energy tone while keeping the food and menu information easy to engage with.

Illustrated Menu Design

The menu system blends bold typography, illustrated textures, and layered composition to create something that feels both functional and expressive. The artwork adds personality without overpowering readability, helping the menu feel like an extension of the brand rather than a separate asset.

Takeout Packaging

The packaging extends the identity beyond the restaurant itself, turning takeout into another branded touchpoint. Bold graphics, character illustration, and high-contrast color help the bags feel memorable, collectible, and aligned with the overall concept.

Exterior Signage Concept

Exterior signage was designed to carry the same bold visual language into the physical space. The goal was to make the brand instantly recognizable from the street while maintaining the gritty, illustrated aesthetic established across the rest of the identity.

final outcome

Through this case study, I showcase my ability to address the often overlooked design aspects of the restaurant industry.

My menu design not only reflects my skills in modern art and illustrative graphic design but also serves as a solution to the challenge of creating a memorable and visually engaging dining experience in the context of a ramen restaurant
