Original Painting
25 x 25 in
Acrylic on Canvas
$2,500 CAD

Inspired by The Epic of Gilgamesh, Where the Serpent Cannot Enter explores divinity, mortality, and the tension between sacred knowledge and loss. At the center stands a seven-eyed Anunnaki-like figure — elongated, watchful, and adorned in gold — flanked by two secretary birds acting as symbolic guardians.

The work draws from one of the oldest surviving stories in human history, particularly the moment in which the serpent steals the promise of renewal. Here, that symbolism is reimagined. Rather than surrendering to theft or decay, the painting becomes a protected realm — a mythic space of resistance, cosmic power, and ancient memory.

Set against pink waters, surreal hills, and distant celestial bodies, the piece exists somewhere between ancient myth and another world entirely.

This is a one-of-one original artwork, created by Havok Downes.
